Positive Parenting Program – Triple P
Being a parent can be tough work - but you're not alone.
If you have children aged 3 to 8 years, an Australian designed parenting program can help you learn how simple routines and small changes can make a big difference to your family.
Triple P, or the Positive Parenting Program, is a well regarded program, developed in Australia, that has been implemented internationally.
The NSW Government has provided $5.2 million over four years to Families NSW to provide Triple P to all parents with children 3-8 years.
Triple P aims to help parents understand the way their family works and assist parents to use the things that they already say, think, feel and do in new ways to:
- Create a stable, supportive and harmonious family
- Encourage behaviour that parents like
- Deal positively, consistently and decisively with problem behaviour
- Build positive relationships between parents and children, so that conflict can be resolved
- Plan ahead to avoid or manage potentially difficult situations
- Encourage parents to take care of themselves as parents
Parents across the state will be able to access Triple P through information sessions, small groups and a self directed program. The program will be provided to parents through a variety of practitioners in your local area.
Parents can now attend Triple P groups and seminars across NSW.
