Teeth are important poster
To help your child look after their teeth:
• Start as soon as the first tooth appears.
• Wipe the front and back of each tooth using a finger wrapped in a face washer.
• Introduce a soft toothbrush by 12 months
• Introduce toothpaste at about 18 months of age.
• Use a pea-size amount of toothpaste.
• Use low fluoride toothpaste for children under six years old.
• Help you child brush their teeth until they are 10 years of age.
• Keep your own teeth and gums clean and healthy. Germs from your mouth can pass over to your baby’s mouth on dummies, bottles and spoons.
• Have your child’s teeth checked by a health professional.
All preschool and school age children up to the age of 18 years of age, and adults who hold a current Health Care Card or Pension Card are eligible for public oral health care.
All people requesting oral health care must be assessed and registered through the Information System for Oral Health (ISOH).
The Priority Oral Health Care Program ensures that people requiring care are seen in order of need as well as socio-economic and other risk factors.
Clinics are in Coffs Harbour, Kempsey, Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Camden Haven and Taree. Please phone 1300 651 625 to register.
