School A to Z

School A to Z website

School A to Z is a new website offering parents practical advice about homework, tips on learning, wellbeing, technology and resources to help support your child's social, physical and mental development.

There are assignment starters based on popular school project topics, with facts and links to credible websites to help avoid last-minute assignment meltdowns.

Expert advice

The site gives even the busiest parents access to some of Australia’s best teachers and experts, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And although it was created by the NSW Department of Education and Communities, the information is relevant for all Australian parents, regardless of where their children go to school.

Expert contributors include maths guru Adam Spencer, psychologist Andrew Fuller, parenting expert Michael Grose and personal trainer Michelle Bridges.

There’s even a section on healthy school lunch boxes, with recipes from leading chefs like Manu Feildel, Matt Moran and Ed Halmagyi.

View it on your mobile!

You can also find answers while you’re racing home from work or waiting for training to finish, thanks to free mobile apps that feature hundreds of definitions about maths and English terms, illustrated examples and instructional videos, as well as kid-friendly educational maths and spelling games.

Some of the site’s most viewed topics are:

  • Is my child ready to start school?
  • Learning to read
  • When cyberbullying hits home
  • Ten tips for writing an essay
  • How to raise resilient kids
  • Helping your child with primary school maths
  • Preparing for the HSC
